Mama horse stands over her 2-day-old foal as other horses huddle in to see

Like all other mothers mares are also very essential for the first period of their foal’s life.

During pregnancy, mares carry their foals for approximately 11 months before giving birth. After birth, the mare typically spends the majority of her time caring for her foal, ensuring it is fed, groomed, and protected from harm. Mares may also exhibit protective behaviors, such as kicking or biting if they feel their foal is threatened.

This mare is also very protective when it comes to her foal.

Jackie and Scott Nelson are the owners of the Down Under Colour ranch in Melbourne, Florida. The ranch is known for its beautiful American Paint Horses. The owners have years of experience and the birth of a new foal is not a surprise for them anymore.

Recently a horse named Poka gave birth to a filly. The newborn was named Coconut because of her beautiful appearance.

Jackie and Scott decided to record the first steps of Covonut as it was so touching.

As soon as Coconut went on a walk with her mother she decided that she could run. But it was difficult for the 2–day-old filly to run without falling. However, her mother was always there to guard her. When other horses of the ranch saw Coconut and her mother they rushed to the fence to meet the newborn. But Poka was guarding there too and she acted too protective to her little one.

Poka and Coconut are reffered to Medicine Hat Horses. These species are indigenuos in the US. They are knoen to bring good luck and only the head of the Chief of the Medicine Man was allowed to ride a Medicine Hat Horse.
