Baekgu, a devoted dog, stayed by his elderly owner’s side the entire time she went missing and collapsed in the cold, saving her life by keeping her warm.

Having a fair canine close by can save your life. Like a dog who got a great honor in his home country of South Korea for rescuing his owner, a 93-year-old woman with dementia, after she went missing. The life of Baekgu, a four-year-old dog, was not easy. According to The Korean Times, his original family left him behind, and his new owners took him in after saving him from an attack by another dog.

Pictures showed her wandering far from her village, so her family reported her missing. Everyone was extremely concerned about the woman’s safety as hours passed without her being seen.

It covered the elderly woman who had fallen unconscious in a rice field more than a mile away from her house and was losing body heat in the rainy, cold weather. Baekgu stayed by her side the entire time, helping to keep her safe and warm, so she wasn’t alone. Her life was probably saved by the dog’s loyalty. According to The Korea Times, the dog was detected by a thermal camera on a drone, which led them to her location. Because the woman’s temperature had dropped, the drone was unable to recognize her body heat.

It is safe to say that the lady would have died if she had been alone. Baekgu was lauded as a legend, particularly by the lady’s family, who felt the canine was compensating the family for saving him a long time back.

He was the first “honorary rescue dog” in South Korea, a new title given to animals who save lives. People were said to have been inspired by Baekgu’s story all over the country. According to CNN, Gov. Yang Seung-jo stated, “At a difficult time due to Covid-19, Baekgu created a fantastic miracle and moved everyone.”
