The decision by “The View” producers to utilize Tina Turner’s passing as a hook to increase ratings was made in a matter of hours.

The hosts of the gaudy program came out of the backstage area shortly after the terrible news of Ms. Turner’s passing, dressed in attire straight out of Thunderdome. Later, they danced their way to the stage to Lizzo’s performance of “Proud Mary.”
According to Thomas Bagger, an attorney for the Turner family, “the whole thing was in poor taste,” and “they had no right to run an homage-themed show without first getting permission.” The song had a famous Tina Turner version, but it is not her song, and she is not even mentioned in the singing, thus the show claims they have the right to utilize the music. Bagger remarked, “We still find it offensive that they looked like her and donned Thunderdome wigs; it was obvious that they were trying to capitalize on her reputation. Internet theories claim that Whoopi and Tina weren’t even close friends. They fell out in the 1980s over who would purchase In and Out Burger, and they never spoke to one another after that. We were able to confirm that Turner liked her burgers with additional onions, even though the story is probably not entirely accurate. “I love eating onions. It makes sense that a famous American, like Tina Turner, would adore them.
