Serena Williams’ outburst in the US Open final last year sparked a worldwide debate. In the wake of losing to Naomi Osaka, Serena yelled at the ref, making a discussion.

A year later, Serena gave an interview to Harper’s Bazaar magazine in which she discussed the incident for the first time.

Serena chose not to have any of her photos edited or retouched, demonstrating her honesty and authenticity.
Serena said that she never meant to upset Naomi, a fellow player, and later said that she regretted ruining such an important moment.
Nonetheless, she did communicate her disappointment with the official’s way of behaving.

Serena was extremely outraged that a sport she had devoted her life to could be tainted in this manner.

It is important to note that Serena is a proponent of body positivity, and her decision to share photos that have not been altered is yet another illustration of how much she values and accepts her body as it is.
