The 127th Marathon was held yesterday, and runners from around the world met for the yearly race. However, this year was difficult for many runners due to the recent deaths of two beloved participants: Spencer, the well-known golden retriever nicknamed “Boston Strong,” and his sister Penny.

Each year, the dogs supported the runners and were popular participants’ favorites. However, even though they weren’t there this year, they were there in spirit thanks to the race’s touching tribute to the beloved dogs
A group of people who own golden retrievers called themselves Massachusetts Golden Meetups and decided to hold a get-together at the Boston Marathon.

After learning of the two “Boston Strong” dogs’ recent deaths, the organizers were motivated to take action.
Elisha Bussiere, a member of the group, stated to WCVB, “I think it’s a symbol of Massachusetts, but it’s also a symbol of strength and resilience.” After the pandemic, I think we are all going through a time when we need strength and resilience. Chances to make individuals grin, whether it’s the day of or the other day, I believe it’s a method for meeting up as a local area.”

On race day, hundreds of golden retrievers gathered near the finish line, all sporting “Golden Strong” bandanas.
The New York Times reports that the meetup attracted approximately 250 dogs, all of them were in good spirits. The crowd was delighted by the furry group.

Deb Litterer, a resident of Rhode Island, stated to the New York Times, “The only thing better than one golden is a whole bunch of goldens.”
