The critically endangered western lowland gorilla’s birth is celebrated at the zoo.

The Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium announced they had a great celebration last month. Their 32-year-old mother Ibo gave birth to a little beautiful baby western lowland gorilla. The baby was born on February 14, making the Valentine’s Day of the zoo extremely special.

The gorilla gave birth a very long time ago. The first time she gave birth she was just 8 years old. And after so many years she is a mother again. Despite all the circumstances, the staff keeps claiming that she is a caring and very attentive mother. It is her second baby.

The western lowland gorilla is considered a vulnerable species with a rapidly decreasing population. But these births give us and the wildlife protectors a huge hope that these animals’ populations will increase again.

Let’s wish strong health to the newborn and her caring mother.
